Vision
To create a replicable model of empowered, sustainable, and
technologically advanced communities where everyone, regardless of
past trauma or ability, can thrive as a homeowner and innovator.
Mission
To provide permanent supportive housing and foster community for individuals with complex needs, empowering them through ownership, agricultural innovation, and a closed-loop ecosystem.
Overarching Five-Year Goal
To
successfully implement and demonstrate the full, integrated "KRF
Ecosystem" in Prince Edward County, creating a financially
sustainable and socially transformative community that is ready for
replication by the end of Year 5.
Strategic Pillars & Objectives
Pillar 1: Community Empowerment & Resident Leadership
Objective: To establish a robust and self-sustaining Residence Association that empowers residents, provides peer support, and ensures their voices guide KRF's development.
Year 1-2: Foundation & Formation
Facilitate the official formation of the "KRF Residence Association," drafting its charter and governance model (e.g., elected board from residents; appointing staff liaison).
Allocate a dedicated annual budget to the Association for community events, initiatives, and advocacy and identify the funding sources in order to meet budget requirements *Co-op?).
Establish regular monthly forums for residents to provide feedback on all aspects of community life. Participation of residents in the AGM.
Year 3-4: Capacity Building & Program Development
Train residents in leadership, meeting facilitation, conflict resolution, accessing local social and health services and advocacy skills.
Launch peer-support programs championed by the Association (e.g., "welcome buddies" for new residents, wellness check groups).
Co-design new rules and social programs for the farming community.
Year 5: Self-Governance & Advocacy
The Residence Association takes a leading role in planning and executing major community events.
Residents formally represent KRF at local municipal meetings or conferences, sharing their lived experience.
Develop a model for how the Association will interface/expand with future KRF communities.
Pillar 2: Ecosystem Implementation & Partnership Management
Objective: To successfully deploy the closed-loop ecosystem through deep, formalized partnerships, ensuring mission alignment and sustainable operations.
Year 1: Partnership Architecture & Site Development
Action: Finalize all legal agreements with partners (ModuLogic, VoltServer, BioSustainer, Municipality, CMHC, FFF). Define IP ownership, roles, and financial commitments.
Action: Secure the land and all permits for the first farming community cluster and the Demorestville organic fertilizer processing plant.
Action: CMHC grant/loan application submitted for the housing component.
Action: Design and implement the four-year training program for home and farm business ownership.
Year 2-3: Construction & Integration
Action: ModuLogic manufactures and installs the first Big Island homes with integrated VoltServer Digital Electricity™ technology.
Action: Construct the hydroponic farm training facility in the garage with integrated VoltServer Digital Electricity™ technology.
Action: Voltserver and KRF begins baseline research and installs Dielectric Barrier Diffusion R&D equipment for the cost-effective, cold atmospheric plasma treatment processes.
Year 4-5: Operationalization & Optimization
Action: Achieve full operation of the closed-loop: waste -> fertilizer/stimulant -> farm -> food.
Action: Initiate the first resident transition to farm business ownership plans in partnership with the Fair Finance Fund.
Action: Publish initial white papers on the efficacy of CAP in hydroponics farming with Voltserver.
Pillar 3: Marketing, Financial Sustainability & Social Enterprise
Objective: To create multiple revenue streams that reduce donor dependency and fund ongoing operations and replication.
Year 1-2: Enterprise Launch
Action: Develop a strong brand identity for the hydroponic produce ("KRF Fresh" or "PlasmaGrown PEC").
Action: Launch a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, offering shares to the public. This provides upfront capital and creates direct community buy-in.
Action: Secure contracts to supply local restaurants and resorts with premium greens.
Year 3-4: Expansion & Replication Planning
Action: Explore the feasibility of value-added products (e.g., dried herb blends, microgreen kits).
Action: With the Fair Finance Fund, develop a financial product for resident farmhouse ownership.
Action: with Dr. Marshall, begin developing the "KRF Model" licensing package for replication.
Year 5: Solidification
Goal: Social enterprise revenue from hydroponics produce sales covers 70% of annual operational costs.
Goal: First ten residents become mortgaged homeowners and farm business owners.
Pillar 4: Strategic Narrative & Digital Storytelling
Objective: To use strategic storytelling to build community support, attract residents and partners, secure funding, and establish KRF as a leader in socioeconomic innovation.
Year 1: Foundation & Building the Audience
Action: Develop a comprehensive Social Media Strategy focused on storytelling across Instagram (visuals), Facebook (community, longer updates), and LinkedIn (partnerships, funding).
Action: Create a content calendar aligned with strategic milestones (e.g., "Groundbreaking Day," "Meet our first resident," "How CAP works").
Action: Invest in high-quality photography and videography from the start.
Year 2-3: The "Why" and the "How"
Action: Run a video series following the journey of the first residents (with consent), focusing on companionship of empowerment, not pity.
Action: Use LinkedIn to showcase the innovative partnerships, tagging ModuLogic, VoltServer, etc., to leverage their networks.
Action: Live-stream Q&As with Dr. Marshall on the social science behind the project.
Year 4-5: Amplifying Impact & Inviting Replication
Action: Publish an annual "Impact Report" video and digital document, highlighting data and stories.
Action: Use the CSA program as a storytelling tool—share stories with shareholders about how their support directly empowers farmers.
Action: Shift messaging to highlight the replicable model, inviting inquiries from other municipalities and organizations.
